Who qualifies
Remote workers, freelancers, and entrepreneurs who earn their income from outside Spain and can perform their work remotely. You need a clean criminal record, valid health insurance, and proof of sufficient remote income.
Required documents
Valid passport, apostilled background check, sworn translations, proof of remote income and employment relationship, private health insurance with no co-pays, and evidence of professional experience or a relevant degree.
The application timeline
From submission to a decision, expect roughly 8–12 weeks when applying at a consulate, or faster when applying in Spain. After approval, you have 30 days to enter Spain and then apply for your TIE residence card.
After approval
You will register with the town hall (empadronamiento), get a TIE card, and can opt into the Beckham Law tax regime. The permit is renewable and leads toward longer-term residency.
